Executive Coaching in the UAE

Executive coaching in the UAE with me is online, one to one or with your leadership team, for leaders in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the northern emirates. Sessions run in Arabic or English, weekly or every two weeks, at times that fit a UAE diary. In-person work for team programmes can be discussed by arrangement. Everything begins with a free 30-minute discovery call.

The UAE is one of the most international places in the world to lead. A single leadership team can bring together Emirati, Arab, Asian, European and other colleagues, each with a different picture of what a good leader sounds like.

Coaching gives you somewhere to work out your own answer to that question, rather than borrowing someone else's. Here is how I work with leaders across the Emirates.

Dubai and Abu Dhabi ask different things of a leader

The two largest emirates have different centres of gravity, and that changes what leaders bring to coaching. These are broad patterns rather than rules, but they help us start in the right place.

  • Dubai. Trade, aviation, hospitality, real estate and regional headquarters, with the Dubai International Financial Centre at the core of its finance sector. The pressure is often commercial speed and constant change in teams.
  • Abu Dhabi. The federal capital, home to large government and government-related entities, energy and sovereign investment, and the Abu Dhabi Global Market financial centre. Leaders often work inside complex governance and long strategic horizons.
  • Sharjah and the northern emirates. Education, manufacturing and many family-owned businesses, where relationships and continuity carry as much weight as growth.

Emiratisation is changing who leads in the private sector

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation sets Emiratisation requirements for private-sector companies, and Nafis, the federal programme launched in 2021, supports Emirati citizens building careers in the private sector. The aim goes beyond numbers on a payroll: it is Emirati leadership in the private economy.

That creates two coaching needs. Emirati professionals moving from government or semi-government roles into private companies often face a new culture of targets and speed. Their managers, many of them expatriates, need to develop national talent well rather than simply place it. Coaching can support both, and coaching for national talent programmes covers the organisational side.

Leading a team of many nationalities without losing your own style

In the UAE, you may manage people from a dozen countries who read hierarchy, feedback and silence differently. Some will push back openly; others will agree in the meeting and raise concerns later, or never.

Coaching helps you notice your own defaults first, then adapt deliberately rather than anxiously. The practical side is explored in cross-cultural communication for leaders, and the coaching side in coaching for leaders of multicultural teams.

One hour ahead of Bahrain, with a Monday to Friday week

Two practical details shape scheduling. The UAE runs on Gulf Standard Time, one hour ahead of Bahrain. Since January 2022 the federal government has worked a Monday to Friday week with a shorter Friday, and many private companies moved with it, while some still keep a different pattern.

We simply agree a session time in UAE time that protects your focus, often early morning before the inbox starts. During Ramadan, when private-sector working hours are reduced, we move sessions to suit the shorter day.

Why a Bahrain-based coach can suit UAE leaders

I understand the Gulf workplace from the inside: national talent agendas, family businesses, Ramadan rhythms and the weight of seniority. Yet I am outside your organisation and outside the UAE's professional circles, which can make it easier to say what you really think.

I bring more than 26 years in leadership, HR and talent development across financial services, FMCG, entrepreneurship and government, more than 4,500 coaching hours and the ICF PCC credential. I coach in Arabic and English.

Frequently asked questions

Do you have an office in Dubai or Abu Dhabi?

No. I am based in Manama, Bahrain, and coach UAE leaders online. For team programmes, in-person sessions in the UAE can be discussed by arrangement, depending on the engagement.

Can you work with a group of Emirati managers in a development programme?

Yes. Group and team coaching can be tailored to a cohort, online or by arrangement in person. Group coaching for managers explains how a cohort format differs from one-to-one work.

What if my company is paying for the coaching?

We agree at the start what your sponsor sees, usually your goals and broad progress, and nothing else leaves our sessions without your agreement. A three-way coaching agreement makes those boundaries explicit.

Is online coaching effective for senior executives?

Yes, provided you protect the time and the space. Senior leaders in the UAE often travel heavily, and online sessions are the format that survives a busy quarter. We keep cameras on and treat the session with the same seriousness as an in-person meeting.
