Executive Coaching for Founders
Executive coaching for founders helps you make the shift from building a company by hand to leading one through other people. We work on delegation, hiring and trusting senior people, decision-making under uncertainty, and the identity questions that come when the business grows beyond you. I coach founders one to one, in person in Manama or online, in Arabic or English.

Founders are often the hardest-working people in their companies and the last to ask for support. The instinct that built the business, doing it yourself, is the same instinct that starts to slow it down once it grows.
Your company has outgrown the way you founded it
There is a point in most growing businesses where the founder becomes the bottleneck. It rarely announces itself. It shows up as small frictions that slowly add up.
- Decisions wait for you, even ones you have said others can make.
- You hired experienced people, then found yourself redoing their work or overruling them.
- The early team is loyal but stretched, and the new hires feel like outsiders.
- You spend your days in operations and your nights worrying about strategy.
- Investors, a board or family members now expect reporting and structure you never needed before.
- You love the business, but you no longer enjoy running it.
What the founder role rewarded, and what the CEO role needs
The shift from founder to CEO is not a promotion. It is a change of job, and many of the strengths that made you successful need to be held more lightly. This table is a starting point for the conversations we have.
| What built the business | What leading it now asks of you |
|---|---|
| Knowing every customer and every detail | Knowing which details matter and letting go of the rest |
| Deciding fast, often alone | Deciding through a team, and explaining why |
| Hiring people you could rely on to follow | Hiring people who will challenge you |
| Personal energy as the engine | Systems and leaders that run without you in the room |
| Tolerating chaos as the price of speed | Building enough structure that others can perform |
Letting go of the work that made you feel useful
Delegation is the founder problem everyone names and few solve. The difficulty is rarely technique. It is that handing over the work you do best feels like handing over part of your identity, and the first results from someone else are often worse than yours.
In coaching we look at what you hold on to and why. Some of it is about quality. Some of it is about control, fear or simply habit. My guide on how to stop micromanaging your team covers the practical steps. Our sessions focus on the thinking underneath them, which is what usually stops founders from following through.
Co-founders, investors and family capital add their own pressure
Few founders lead alone. A co-founder relationship that worked when you were five people can strain when you are fifty. Investors bring expectations and a timetable. In the Gulf, many businesses are funded by family capital, which means your shareholders may also be your parents, siblings or in-laws.
Coaching gives you a neutral space to think about those relationships before you act on them. I don’t take sides, and I don’t give business advice. If you are unsure of the difference, my answer on coaching versus consulting explains what each one is for.
The founder’s mindset under constant uncertainty
Building a company asks you to live with risk every day. Over time that can turn into a habit of scanning for threats, second-guessing hires or feeling that you can never switch off. My work in mindset coaching and Positive Intelligence® mental fitness helps you notice those patterns and choose a steadier response, so you lead from clarity rather than alarm.
Coaching is not therapy or medical treatment. It works with performance, thinking habits and behaviour. If the pressure is affecting your mental health, please speak to a doctor or a licensed mental health professional; coaching can sit alongside that care.
How our first session works for a founder
Map the business as it is now
We sketch who reports to you, which decisions still come to you, and where the friction sits.
Find the pattern
We look at one recent situation where you stepped in when you meant to step back, and what was driving it.
Choose an experiment
You leave with one decision or area to hand over before our next session, and a way to notice what happens.
Why entrepreneurship is familiar ground for me
Entrepreneurship is one of the sectors I worked in during my 26 years in leadership, HR and talent development, alongside financial services, FMCG and government. I have seen how growing businesses struggle with structure, hiring and culture, and how much of that struggle traces back to the person at the top.
I hold the ICF PCC credential and have coached for more than 4,500 hours. If you are a woman building a business, you may also find my page on mindset coaching for women entrepreneurs useful.
Frequently asked questions
My business is still small. Is executive coaching for founders too early for me?
Not if the business is growing and you can feel yourself becoming the limit. The earlier you build habits of delegation and clear decision-making, the less you have to unlearn later.
Will you tell me how to run my company?
No. You know your market and your business. I ask questions that help you see your own patterns and choices more clearly, so that the decisions you make are fully yours.
Can my co-founder and I be coached together?
Yes, when the partnership itself is the focus. We would agree clearly what is joint work and what stays private, and each of you can also have one-to-one sessions if that helps.
I travel constantly. Can coaching work around that?
Yes. We can meet online wherever you are, or in person in Manama when you are in Bahrain. Sessions are usually weekly or every two weeks, and we agree the rhythm together.
