Positive Intelligence Program With a Coach

The Positive Intelligence Program is a six-week mental fitness programme built around short daily practice in an app. Doing it with a coach means you are not working through it alone: as a certified Positive Intelligence® coach, I help you apply each week to real leadership situations, recognise your saboteurs as they appear, and keep the habit going when work gets busy.

Plenty of people start a self-guided programme with good intentions and drift by the third week. The content is rarely the problem. Applying it under real pressure, with a full calendar, is.

This page explains what the Positive Intelligence Program involves, what a coach adds and how to begin. I do not publish fixed start dates or fees; timing is agreed with you after a free discovery call.

The framework behind the programme

Positive Intelligence® was developed by Shirzad Chamine. Its central idea is that your mind can work for you or against you, and that you can train it to work for you more often. Full details are on the Positive Intelligence website.

The framework uses a few key terms. You will meet each of them during the six weeks.

  • Saboteurs: ten habitual mental patterns that undermine you. The Judge is the master saboteur, and nine accomplice saboteurs, such as the Controller, the Pleaser and the Stickler, work alongside it. The ten are described on what the 10 saboteurs are.
  • The Sage: the part of your mind that meets challenges with curiosity, empathy, creativity, clear direction and calm action. These are often described as the five Sage powers.
  • Self-command: the capacity to shift out of a saboteur-driven state, built through very short attention exercises.
  • PQ: short for Positive Intelligence Quotient, a measure of how much of the time your mind is serving you rather than sabotaging you. See what a PQ score is.

How the six weeks are structured

  1. 01

    Before you begin

You take the free saboteur assessment on the Positive Intelligence website, and we meet to connect the programme to your leadership goals.

  2. 02

    A weekly theme

Each week introduces a new part of the framework through short video content, moving from recognising your saboteurs to strengthening self-command and practising the Sage powers.

  3. 03

    Daily practice in the app

Brief exercises spread through the day build the habit. The app tracks your practice so you can see your consistency.

  4. 04

    Coaching alongside the programme

We meet during the six weeks to apply each theme to situations you are facing at work and to work through whatever gets in the way.

  5. 05

    After week six

We review what changed, agree how you will keep practising, and decide whether further coaching would help.

A coach turns the content into change at work

The programme content is the same whoever you do it with. What changes with a coach is how much of it reaches your working life.

Who the Positive Intelligence Program suits

The programme is designed for anyone who wants a stronger, calmer mind, and I find it especially useful for leaders in these situations.

  • You perform well but carry a constant inner critic that rarely switches off.
  • Your drive has started to cost you: rest feels like falling behind.
  • You overthink decisions or replay conversations long after they end.
  • You have taken on a bigger role and your old ways of coping are no longer enough.
  • You prefer structure, and want a clear programme rather than open-ended sessions.
  • You are interested in mental fitness for your leadership team, and want to experience it yourself first.

What the programme does not do

The Positive Intelligence Program is not therapy or medical treatment. It works with performance, thinking habits and behaviour. If you are struggling with your mental health, including persistent anxiety, low mood or burnout, please speak to a doctor or a licensed mental health professional first. Coaching can sit alongside that care.

It is also not a quick fix. The change comes from daily practice over six weeks and beyond, so it is worth starting when you can give it steady attention.

Starting dates, format and how to join

There are no fixed public start dates. We agree a start that suits your calendar, and avoid weeks with heavy travel or major deadlines where possible. Because the practice is app-based, the programme works well online, wherever you are in the GCC; our coaching conversations can be in person in Manama or online, in Arabic or English.

Fees are not published, because each engagement is personalised. The first step is a free 30-minute discovery call. If you would rather build mental fitness into open-ended coaching, see mental fitness coaching.

Frequently asked questions

How much time does the daily practice take?

The exercises are short and designed to fit into a working day, with some longer moments of practice as well. The Positive Intelligence website gives the current programme details, and we plan how practice fits around your schedule before you start.

What happens if I fall behind during the six weeks?

It happens to most people at some point, especially in a heavy week. We look at what got in the way, often a saboteur in its own right, and agree a realistic way back in rather than starting again.

When does the next Positive Intelligence Program start?

There is no fixed cohort calendar. We agree your start date together after the discovery call, at a point when you can give the programme steady attention.

Can I keep working with you after the six weeks?

Yes. Some clients continue with one-to-one leadership coaching and use mental fitness as one part of it. Others finish the programme and keep practising on their own. We decide together at the end.

Is the programme the same as reading the Positive Intelligence book?

The book explains the ideas. The programme is about practice: daily exercises, weekly themes and, with a coach, regular application to your real situations. Understanding the concepts and changing the habit are different things.

Can our leadership team go through the programme together?

Talk to me about it on the discovery call. Team engagements are always tailored, and shared language for saboteurs can be useful for a team, but whether it is the right approach depends on what the team needs.
